1 – Is the International Airfare included?
Travelers destined to Uganda come from all over the world to begin our tours and it is not possible to include international airfare in our prices. But if you need assistance please contact us.
2 – What is the most appropriate type of luggage, clothing or documents to bring during field tours?
The items to bring: Passport, Vaccination cards (especially, Yellow fever), First aid kit, Mosquito repellent, Sunglasses, Hat, Small backpack (daypack) Binoculars, Camera, Chargers for camera, phone, tablet, etc., Multi plug, to be sure you can charge all your items, Clothes with long sleeves Clothes for both warm and cool weather Rain jacket, Hiking boots for gorilla tracking or other hiking activities, Money belt and a separate day wallet.
3 – How many people can join a tour?
Trip minimum is 4 persons and the maximum limit is 12 people for a particular tour. If people are interested in the tour we always do our best to include everybody on the trip. For Birding tours the maximum persons on the trip is 12 persons. Our guides will ensure personal attention to the group on tour. We can also tailor your tour interests.
4 – Can you help arrange my travel visas?
A Visa to Uganda can be obtained on arrival at point of entry. It costs US$50 per person. However a single East Africa Tourist Visa at US$100 is also available.
5 – Are there any recommended vaccinations for this tour?
Yellow fever vaccination certificate is the common record required at the point of entry. However if you have any other records of vaccinations please carry them with you. All visitors should take Malaria drugs before and after as preventive measure .It is advisable to drink bottled rather than tap water. It is also advisable to seek information from your National Health office or travel websites for the latest Uganda travel health information or contact us Rafiki Eco safaris
6 – Is there a recommended type of clothing for your tours?
We always recommend packing as light as possible however the specific requirements for your tour will vary widely depending on where and when you are travelling. For Gorilla tracking the following is recommended: Comfortable hiking shoes up to ankle level. Carry a packed lunch and enough drinking water. Rain coat, Insect repellant, Sunglasses, A hat, A cardigan.
7 – What are the age restrictions on your tours?
The minimum age is 15 years old. No upper age limit. However, Special arrangements can be made for families travelling with children below 15 years.
8 – Are airport transfers included?
Yes. Our tours include Airport transfers. Our tour package includes pick up from Airports and your hotel.
9 – What type of transportation is used on your tours?
A 4WD Minivan or 4WD vehicle is used for your tours whilst in Uganda.
10 – How is Rafiki Safaris able to offer such competitive prices?
At Rafiki Safaris, we do our best to offer a memorable experience during our tours. Of course we may not include everything but we do our best to highlight the most important things that everyone goes to see during a tour all imbedded in our tour prices.
11 – Can I book extra nights of hotel accommodation before or after my tour?
Yes, in most cases we can arrange additional accommodation at our starting or ending hotels, if we are informed in advance.
12- Is tipping allowed during the tour?
Although tips are at your discretion, tips are allowed and recommended at your hotel or lodge and also tipping the guides on the tour. Recommended tip range is between US$1 to US$10. For hotels & Restaurants: 5 – 10% of the Bill exclusive tax is recommended.
13 – Are your guides multilingual?
Yes, We have guides that speak English, French, German, Spanish, but have to be booked in advance before start of tour.
14 – What is the payment method and currency for the tour?
Bank transfers are the recommended payment methods.US Dollars is the common currency alongside the Uganda shillings. We currently do not accept credit cards although they can be used at ATMs for different commercial banks at Entebbe and other towns in Uganda. Forex Bureaus are also available to convert your Dollars in to shillings.
