This game reserve hosts Africa’s larger animals that include the big five (lion, elephant, leopard, cape buffalo and rhinoceros). Hippopotamus, crocodiles, hyenas, cheetah, jackals, giraffe and antelopes can be also be seen in the reserve.

Interact with the Elephants at Amboseli National Park

It is located south east of Kenya near Tanzania. It is home to large herds of elephants in Kenya. The best time for wildlife safaris is June to October and best birding between October to January. Famous for a spectacular backdrop of Mount Kilimanjaro.

Lake Nakuru National park is famous for the flamingos that are attracted to an abundance of algae in the Lake. It is elevated at 1,754 m (5,755 ft) above sea level.

The Rift valley soda lake safari can be combined with Serengeti and Maasai Mara or Gorilla trekking and can be visited all year round.

Other birds and animals that can be spotted include the pelicans, cormorants, fish eagles, king fishers, water bucks, eastern black rhinos and southern white rhinos, Leopards, Lions, cheetahs and warthogs.

Samburu National Reserve

Samburu game reserve is located on the banks of Ewasio Ng’iro River that flows through the doum palm groves and thick forests along its banks.

The wildlife species commonly seen in the park include the lion, African leopard, Cheetah, Grevy’s Zebra, water buck, warthogs as well as Cape buffalo, Elephants and Hippopotamus.

Best time to visit: December to March, July to October

Meet the Black Rhinos at Aberdare National Park

It offers spectacular views of streams and wildlife. Due to its high altitude, the temperatures are sometimes cooler than the savannas.

The largest herd of endangered black rhinoceros lives here. Other wild animal sightings include the leopards, elephants, olive baboons, warthogs and bush backs. Best time to visit the park is between May to September and January to February.
