Mgahinga is part of the prominent Virunga Mountains that supports gorillas and golden monkeys. It borders Rwanda and Democratic Republic of Congo. It is not only home to the gorilla but also the endemic habituated golden monkeys, known to feed on the bamboo vegetation in this small sized park.

Day 1: Welcome to Uganda

Depending on your arrival time, you will go for a natural walk at botanical gardens. Stay at 2 Friends Guest house or equivalent.

Day 2: Travel to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.

 Stop over at the equator. Dinner and overnight at Chameleon Hill Lodge.

Day 3: Gorilla tracking – a lifetime experience

Have an early morning breakfast and then go for a briefing by wildlife rangers at the Park headquarters. Proceed to the Impenetrable forest for gorilla tracking. Carry packed Lunch. You should be equipped with jungle boots since tracking involves walking up steep, densely forested hills before finally coming across the endangered gorillas in the dense tropical vegetation, their favourite habitat. After lunch go for a community visit to the local communities living around the park to learn about their history.

Dinner and overnight at Chameleon Hill Lodge

Day 4: Golden monkey tracking

Today after breakfast go for golden monkey tracking at Mgahinga National Park. This park was gazetted in 1991.It gets its name from the local word Gahinga meaning a “pile of stones”. Dinner and overnight at Chameleon Hill Lodge

Day 5: End of tour

Cultural experiences, Home stay visits and boat rides for half or full day at extra cost.

Canoeing: This is an exhilarating experience in dug out boats. You go around the lake islands and enjoy beautiful views of the landscape and listen to historical stories associated with the islands.
